Dye sublimation considerations

Jason Bartusick at Media One USA recommends that industry players consider the following issues surrounding dye sublimation transfer and direct dye sublimation technology.

When you are dealing with direct to fabric you have to be able to get the fabric out of the heat source at anytime, that way you don’t burn your fabrics.

Make sure the fabric manufacturer has a solid line of fabrics that are low priced competitively. Make sure the price of the fabric plus the paper you are buying is equivalent to the fabric that’s pretreated.

Make sure the fabrics don’t get any ink rub off.

Make sure the company that is supplying equipment or fabric has the right tech support.

Before you buy equipment, make sure you’ve seen the printer’s results after it has been running for an entire day. Going to shows and seeing a printer run a couple of prints is one thing, but actually going to a demo center and printing jobs and running production for a day will show you how the printer really works.
